F1 news: Charles Leclerc wins dramatic British GP as Kimi Antonelli's lead is cut
Charles Leclerc returned Ferrari to the top step of the podium with victory in a dramatic British Grand Prix on Sunday, July 5, while championship leader Kimi Antonelli suffered a major setback after retiring with a technical failure at Silverstone.
George Russell capitalised to finish second and reduce Antonelli's championship lead to just 25 points.
Lewis Hamilton completed the podium for Ferrari, while Max Verstappen's race ended in frustration after a rear-wing failure sent the Red Bull driver into the barriers.

Leclerc delivers Ferrari's breakthrough
After several difficult weekends, Ferrari finally produced the performance they had been searching for.
Leclerc controlled the race superbly, combining strong pace with measured tyre management to secure an important victory that underlined Ferrari's progress.
The Monegasque admitted the result was especially satisfying given the team's recent struggles.
"It feels incredible,” Leclerc said, quoted on Sky Sports.
"To win after the last few weekends that have been particularly difficult. All the work we put in to try to get the feeling back in the car..."
Leclerc added that improvements made following Saturday's Sprint finally translated into the race.
"Today the feeling was back where it needs to be. I'm so incredibly happy,” he added.

Antonelli's title lead takes a hit
The biggest championship story came from Mercedes.
Antonelli appeared firmly in contention before a technical issue forced him out of the points.
The Italian explained that the problem developed suddenly after another routine lap over the kerbs.
"I hit the kerb every lap,” he said. “That lap, I probably hit it less even than previous laps, and I could feel instantly that something broke."
Initially believing the front wing was damaged, Antonelli soon realised the issue was more serious.
"It didn't go our way, and I think it was a shame because we had a real shot for the win today."
Instead of extending his championship advantage, Antonelli watched Russell significantly reduce the gap heading into the next round.

Russell keeps the pressure on
Although he admitted it had not been his strongest weekend, Russell maximised every opportunity available.
A late Safety Car helped secure second place and an invaluable 18-point gain in the championship standings.
"Great race... my first podium here so really pleased to be standing here," Russell said.
Russell also acknowledged the timing of the Safety Car.
"It would have been great for the fans for it to have restarted but from my side my tyres were stone cold so I was glad to bring it home in second."
The result keeps the Mercedes driver firmly in the championship conversation.

Verstappen's frustrations continue
Max Verstappen's afternoon ended prematurely after suffering a rear-wing failure that caused a high-speed spin.
The reigning world champion described the situation as increasingly concerning.
"When it happens one time, that can happen... Two times, it's getting very dangerous for me because you can really hurt yourself at these high-speed corners," Verstappen said.
The retirement also comes amid continued speculation surrounding Verstappen's long-term future, adding further frustration to an already difficult weekend.
