NBA Finals news: OG Anunoby's late heroics complete historic New York Knicks Game 4 comeback against San Antonio Spurs
OG Anunoby's dramatic tip-in with 2.2 seconds remaining capped the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history as the New York Knicks stunned the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, June 11.
Trailing by 29 points during the contest, the Knicks appeared destined to fall level in the series before producing a remarkable second-half fightback to move within one victory of the NBA championship.
The dramatic finish sparked wild celebrations inside Madison Square Garden and throughout New York City, with celebrities including Timothée Chalamet, Adam Sandler, Taylor Swift and Kylie Jenner among those reacting to one of the most memorable moments in recent finals history.
Anunoby delivers in historic finish
With the Knicks trailing by a point and just seconds remaining, Jalen Brunson launched a deep three-point attempt that bounced off the rim.
Anunoby reacted quickest.
The forward tipped the ball back into the basket with 2.2 seconds remaining to complete a comeback that few inside Madison Square Garden believed possible when New York fell behind by 29 points.
"That has to be the most iconic shot in the history of New York basketball," Knicks coach Mike Brown said.
Karl-Anthony Towns was equally emphatic.
"Right hand from God," Towns said.
Anunoby finished with 33 points and four rebounds while shooting an outstanding 10-for-15 from the field and 7-for-9 from three-point range.
Brunson leads the charge
While Anunoby delivered the defining moment, Brunson once again carried much of New York's offensive burden.
The Knicks star recorded 36 points, five rebounds and seven assists while adding three steals in another influential display.
Josh Hart also played an important role as New York gradually chipped away at the deficit.
"You look at it when you're down 29, 'OK, let's get it to 20,'" Hart said.
"There's three minutes left in the third quarter, we're down 18, you're thinking, 'Let's get it to 10.'
"In the fourth quarter, you're like, this is winning time. Anything can happen."
The Knicks' persistence ultimately paid off as they completed a comeback for the ages.
Spurs left to rue missed opportunity
San Antonio looked in complete control for much of the evening.
Victor Wembanyama finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, while Devin Vassell added 18 points and Dylan Harper continued his impressive finals campaign with 21 points off the bench.
De'Aaron Fox also contributed 18 points and seven assists.
However, a series of costly late-game mistakes proved decisive.
Wembanyama missed crucial free throws in the closing stages, while Fox's decision to attack the basket rather than run down the clock helped leave the door open for New York's late surge.
"We got on our heels - we missed some shots," Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said.
"It's disappointing, to say the least."

Knicks on the brink
The victory gives New York a commanding 3-1 series lead heading into Game 5 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on Sunday, June 14.
"We're a resilient group. We've been through a lot," Anunoby said.
"We've come back plenty of times when we're behind. Just staying with it, weathering the storm, not being too down or angry or frustrated."
The Knicks are now one win away from an NBA title.
For the Spurs, the challenge is far simpler.
Win Game 5 or watch the championship celebrations begin.
