Arsenal have won two of their five pre-season matches, beating MK Dons and Girona before losing to Real Betis and Borussia Dortmund.
They finished with a 1-1 draw against Como, winning the subsequent penalty shootout 4-3.
The defensive performances have been the main concern.
Arsenal conceded seven goals across their defeats to Betis and Dortmund, with Sky Sports highlighting their vulnerability without William Saliba.
The France international remains unavailable with a back injury, while Jurrien Timber is also sidelined.
That could be significant against a Man City attack which has already shown signs of becoming more dangerous under Maresca.
Man City are finding their attacking rhythm
Maresca's first pre-season began with a penalty-shootout defeat to Inter after a 1-1 draw, but Man City responded with a 3-1 victory over the K-League All Stars before beating Atletico Madrid by the same scoreline.
Antoine Semenyo has been one of the standout performers, while Omar Marmoush scored twice against Atletico after receiving two assists from the Ghana international.
Rayan Ait-Nouri has also impressed, adding another goal in Seoul.
Maresca has been using a noticeably different tactical structure to Pep Guardiola, with inverted full-back movements and wide players operating high up the pitch.
The early signs suggest Man City can create problems for Arsenal's defensive structure.

Arsenal have new weapons of their own
Arsenal's summer recruitment has significantly changed the attacking and midfield profile of Arteta's squad.
Viktor Gyokeres is the headline addition up front, while Bruno Guimaraes has now joined for £75m and made his Arsenal debut against Como.
The Brazilian's arrival gives Arteta another powerful presence in midfield and could allow the Gunners to play with greater physicality and control.
Gyokeres scored from the penalty spot against Como after making his first appearance for Arsenal, giving him another opportunity to build rhythm before the Premier League begins.
The striker is priced at 3.00 to score anytime, compared with 2.60 for Erling Haaland.
That is a particularly interesting market given Haaland's fitness situation.

Maresca confirmed Haaland is fit after recovering from a minor issue behind his heel, although he acknowledged that some players had only returned from their summer break shortly before the game.

William Saliba and Jurrien Timber remain the notable absentees.

Arsenal have shown defensive vulnerability during pre-season, while Man City have scored three goals in each of their last two friendlies.
At the other end, Arsenal now possess considerably more attacking threat with Gyokeres, while Saka, Martin Odegaard and their other attacking options provide plenty of creativity.

This is a difficult match to call outright.
Arsenal have the advantage of being the reigning Premier League champions and have had their key players return in good physical condition, while Man City appear to be developing quickly under Maresca.
The pre-season evidence slightly favours Man City's attacking rhythm, but Arsenal's major players are now returning and Guimaraes gives them another important midfield weapon.
Rather than forcing an outright winner, the goals markets provide more appealing value.
