Transfer news: Man Utd insist Bruno Fernandes is not for sale amid Galatasaray interest
Manchester United have made clear Bruno Fernandes is not for sale despite interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Galatasaray have shown significant interest in the Manchester United captain, although no formal bid has been submitted for the 31-year-old.
Fernandes has entered the final year of his contract, with Man United holding an option to extend his deal by a further season.
The stance represents a significant change from the uncertainty surrounding Fernandes' future 12 months ago.
Man United change stance on Fernandes
There was a period last summer when Fernandes' future at Old Trafford appeared far less certain.
Sky Sports' James Savundra explained that Man United could previously have been willing to consider a sale for around £100m, particularly if the funds could have been reinvested into other areas of the squad.
Fernandes also confirmed at the time that he had spoken to representatives from the Saudi Pro League before ultimately deciding to remain with Man United.
That situation has changed considerably following his extraordinary 2025/26 campaign.
"Last season he was just incredible with the assist record - he was the best player in the Premier League last season," Savundra said.
"He's a massive part of Michael Carrick's plans this season."
Record-breaking season strengthens his position
Fernandes produced the most productive creative campaign in Premier League history last season, registering 21 assists.
The Portugal international surpassed the previous record of 20, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, while also winning the Premier League Player of the Season and Playmaker awards.
His 21 assists also represented a new Manchester United record, surpassing David Beckham's previous club-best total of 15 in a single Premier League campaign.
That production makes Fernandes central to Carrick's plans as Man United prepare to return to the Champions League.
Contract situation remains important
Although Man United insist Fernandes is not available this summer, his contract situation means longer-term questions remain.
The club have an option for an additional year, which would prevent Fernandes from entering the final months of his agreement without Man United having a decision to make.
Savundra believes the club will ultimately have to consider life after their captain, but not yet.
"There will come a time when Manchester United think about life after Bruno Fernandes but that won't be this summer," he said.
For now, Galatasaray's interest appears unlikely to change Man United's position.
Fernandes remains a fundamental part of Carrick's plans as the club attempt to build on their resurgence and compete on both the domestic and European stage.
