The 2026-27 Premier League season is only two games old, but Gameweek 3 already presents several intriguing betting opportunities.

Liverpool are still searching for their first victory under Andoni Iraola when they travel to Ipswich Town on Friday, while Aston Villa will attempt to recover from a difficult start against unbeaten Hull City.

Sunday brings two of the weekend's biggest tests, with Manchester United travelling to Everton before Arsenal host Chelsea in the standout fixture of the round.

Early-season results should always be treated with caution, but the opening two weeks have provided enough evidence to identify where certain teams are trending, and where the betting markets may be offering value.

Ipswich Town vs Liverpool

Liverpool's opening two games have produced two draws, leaving Iraola under early pressure to get his first Premier League victory at the club.

That makes this an important fixture, but Ipswich should not be dismissed simply because they are newly promoted.

Gary O'Neil's side opened the season with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland and also led Manchester United before eventually losing 5-2. 

They have shown enough attacking intent to suggest they can cause problems for a Liverpool defence that has already conceded four goals in two matches.

Liverpool, however, possess considerably more firepower and have added Bradley Barcola to an already dangerous attack. 

Their problems have arguably been more pronounced defensively and in midfield.

That makes Liverpool's outright price of 1.58 less appealing than backing them to win while scoring multiple goals.

Liverpool have too much attacking quality for Ipswich if they perform close to their level, and this is the type of fixture the Reds need to start winning if they are to avoid an early crisis.

Hull City vs Aston Villa

Hull have already provided one of the early surprises of the season.

The Tigers defeated Manchester United 2-0 on the opening weekend before beating Coventry City 1-0, giving them six points from six and a perfect start to life back in the Premier League.

Villa have experienced the opposite.

Unai Emery's side were beaten 4-0 by Brighton before losing 1-0 to Arsenal. Their latest defeat was particularly concerning because they failed to register a shot on target despite playing at home.

Villa remain favourites at 1.85, but that price does not completely reflect their early problems.

There is still enough quality in the Villa squad to expect an improvement, while their historical record against Hull is strongly in their favour. Villa have lost just once to the Tigers since 1988.

Hull are therefore worth respecting, but backing them to avoid defeat may be more attractive than simply taking the away win.

The price on Villa is not enormous, but the combination of their need to respond and Hull's impressive attacking start makes this a more interesting route than simply backing the visitors at 1.85.

Everton vs Manchester United

Manchester United head to Everton after finally producing the attacking performance Michael Carrick will have wanted, beating Ipswich 5-2 with Bruno Fernandes scoring a hat-trick.

The problem is that Everton represent a very different test.

David Moyes has brought greater stability to the Toffees, who have started the campaign unbeaten and will now welcome United to their new home at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Manchester United remain the stronger side on paper and are priced at 2.25 to win, compared with 3.10 for Everton and 3.60 for the draw.

But United's defensive vulnerability makes the away price difficult to trust completely.

Everton's home advantage and improved organisation could make this an uncomfortable afternoon for Carrick's side, while United's attacking quality should still give them opportunities.

Arsenal vs Chelsea

The weekend's headline fixture pits the reigning champions against a Chelsea side that has made an explosive start under Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea have scored nine goals across their opening two league matches, with Cole Palmer finding the net in both games. 

Their attacking approach has immediately made them more dangerous, even if defensive questions remain.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have looked like a side capable of defending their crown.

The champions have quality throughout the squad and Mikel Arteta has the luxury of rotating without significantly weakening his starting XI. 

Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Aston Villa was another example of their ability to control difficult games, even when the scoreline does not reflect their superiority.

The Gunners are 1.73 favourites, with Chelsea at 5.00 and the draw at 3.80.

Arsenal's recent record against Chelsea also gives them the edge. Chelsea have lost their last three meetings with the Gunners and have not beaten them since 2021.

However, Chelsea's attacking form makes the outright Arsenal price less attractive than a goals-based combination.
